The Gili Gambay Project Terms and Conditions
1. Background
The Gili Gambay Project is proud to offer a grant program to support First Nations projects ("Program").
By applying for this Program, applicants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Objectives
The Program aims to:
· Provide financial support to initiatives that empower, uplift, and deliver tangible benefits to Australian Indigenous communities.
· Support community-led charitable activities, grassroots services, and capacity-building projects.
· Foster long-term positive social impact.
3. Who Can Apply
To be eligible for funding, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
· Your project or service ("Project") must be specifically designed to benefit First Nations people/community or country.
· Applicants must demonstrate cultural safety, appropriateness, and consultation with the communities they intend to serve.
· Applicants must be residents of Australia.
4. What Cannot Be Funded
Grant funds may not be used for:
· For-profit business ventures or commercial activities.
· Political campaigns, lobbying, or religious proselytizing.
· Retrospective costs (expenses incurred before the grant is awarded).
· General ongoing administrative costs not directly related to the proposed project.
· Personal expenses
5. Grant Allocation
· Total Funding Pool: $30,000 AUD in 2026.
· Grant Amounts: Applicants may apply for funding up to a maximum of $15,000 AUD.
· The Gili Gambay Project reserves the right to award partial funding based on the evaluation of the proposed budget.
6. Use of Grant funds
· Grant funds must be spent strictly in accordance with the budget submitted and approved during the application process ("Grant Budget").
· Any significant changes to the Project scope or Grant Budget must be approved in writing by The Gili Gambay Project before Grant funds are spent.
· All Grant funds must be expended within the agreed time frame of the Project.
· Any non-expended Grant funds within the agreed time frame of the Project must be returned to The Gili Gambay Project within 30 days of the Project's completion.
7. How to Apply
· Applications open on 12 March 2026 and close at 11:59 PM AEST on 30 April 2026.
· Applications must be submitted via the online application at https://www.thegiligambayproject.com.au/
· Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
8. Applications
· The Gili Gambay Project may alter or terminate the application process or the Program in its absolute discretion.
· The Gili Gambay Project may, in its absolute discretion, require or allow applicants to amend, alter or otherwise change their application at any time during the application process, but it is not obliged to.
· Applicants warrant that the information they provide during the application process is true and correct.
· The Gili Gambay Project reserves the right to verify the validity and/or accuracy of applications and to disqualify any applicant who submits an applicant that is misleading or not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
· Applicants may submit a maximum of one grant application per Project.
· The Gili Gambay Project's decision to accept an application is final and at its absolute discretion.
· Successful applicants ("Grantees") will be notified by The Gili Gambay Project by email. The Gili Gambay Project takes no responsibility where it is unable to contact Grantees who have not provided correct or complete contact details. If an applicant's contact details change, it is the applicant's responsibility to notify The Gili Gambay Project by email to information@thegiligambayproject.com.au.
9. Selection Criteria
Applications will be assessed by a review panel selected by The Gili Gambay Project. Assessment will be based on:
1. Impact: Clear demonstration of the positive impact on the Indigenous community.
2. Feasibility: A realistic timeline, clear methodology, and a sensible budget.
3. Community Connection: Evidence of community support, engagement, and Indigenous leadership/involvement.
4. Sustainability: How the benefits of the Project will continue beyond the funding period.
The Gili Gambay Project's assessment of applications and allocation of Grants is final and at its absolute discretion.
10. Progress and Final Reports
· Grantees agree to undertake the Projects for the purpose of the Grant in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
· The Grantee is fully responsible for the Project and for ensuring that the performance of all its obligations under these Terms and Conditions in accordance with all relevant laws.
· Grantees must submit a brief progress report at the agreed check-in dates in the format specified by The Gili Gambay Project.
· A final acquittal report detailing Project outcomes and financial expenditure (including receipts) must be submitted within 30 days of the Project’s completion.
11. Payment of the Grant
· The Gili Gambay Project agrees to pay the Grant to the Grantee in accordance with the milestones provided in the Grant Budget or as otherwise mutually agreed.
· The Gili Gambay Project may by notice withhold payment of any amount of the Grant and/or take any other action specified within these Terms and Conditions if it reasonably believes that:
o The Grantee has not complied with these Terms and Conditions.
o The Grantee is unlikely to be able to undertake or complete the Project.
o There is a serious concern relating to the Grantee or these Terms and Conditions that requires investigation.
12. Audit and Record Keeping
· Grantees must keep accurate financial records regarding the spending of the Grant.
· The Gili Gambay Project reserves the right to request a financial audit of the Grant expenditure and the Project.
13. Media and Promotion
· Grantees agree to acknowledge the support of The Gili Gambay Project in public communications relating to the Project, where appropriate, using any branding or acknowledgement guidelines provided.
· Grantees grant The Gili Gambay Project permission to use the Project's name, non-sensitive outcomes, and provided photographs for promotional purposes (e.g., on social media or company websites), subject to cultural sensitivities and prior mutual agreement.
14. Intellectual Property
· All intellectual property created during the Project remains the property of the Grantee or the relevant Indigenous community.
· The Grantee or Project may not use any of The Gili Gambay Project's intellectual property (which includes all present and future rights in and to any and all intellectual property, including copyright, trade marks, domain, business, trade, company or brand names, logos, get up, confidential information, trade secrets, know how and the content of any social media pages and websites) without express written permission from The Gili Gambay Project.
15. Liability
· The Gili Gambay Project is not responsible or liable for any liability, injury, loss, or damage incurred by the Grantee or any third party as a result of the Project or the provision of the Grant.
· The Grantee must ensure they have appropriate insurance coverage (e.g., Public Liability) for their activities.
· To the greatest extent permitted by law, The Gili Gambay Project excludes all warranties, representations or guarantees regarding the Program and any Grants, including any warranties, representations or guarantees which may have been made in the course of advertising or promotion the Program.
16. Termination of Grant
The Gili Gambay Project may terminate the Grant and, on receipt of a request by The Gili Gambay Project, a Grantee must return unspent Grant funds if the Grantee breaches these Terms and Conditions, acts fraudulently, or brings the Program or The Gili Gambay Project into disrepute within 30 days of the Grantee's receipt of the request.

18. Governing law and jurisdiction
The Program and the Terms and Conditions are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia. Applicants accept the non-exclusive jurisdiction of courts and tribunals in New South Wales, Australia in connection with disputes concerning the Program, any Grant and these Terms and Conditions.
